Coach, musician, WRITER

I am a pianist, coach, and writer with a focus on meaningful creativity, leadership development, energy maintenance, and communication. I grew up in Beijing before immigrating to America at 9-years-old. I started taking piano lessons not long after, and found a space where I could cultivate my creative expression, discipline, and sense of wonder.

As a creative myself, I understand the complexities and challenges of building a successful and enjoyable creative life. I’ve stood at several crossroads in my life, not knowing why I was achieving my goals and still feeling inauthentic and incomplete.

This mystery has taken me through classical music training at Oberlin, scripted and prose writing at NYU, contemplative caregiving through a Zen Buddhist program, and more. In between chasing dreams, I supported myself working in nonprofit administration, editorial management, and even pinned the English script of an episode of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” Every chapter has led me to where I am now.

Thanks to my privilege, education, passion, and talent, I am lucky to be able to create on my terms. What’s changed is how I apply my experience, skillset, and awareness to my life, and my work.

As a coach, I help individuals transform their ideas into results that open doors to professional advancement, creative opportunities, and personal breakthroughs. I am the creator of "Side by Side," a podcast highlighting insights and experiences of creatives, artists, healers, and warriors.

Over the past few years, the gaps in people’s energy level and workplace fulfillment have become wider and wider. Whether you are a small business owner, part of the start-up community, or a corporate employee, modern conundrums ask for more integration and less compartmentalization. More purposeful living, and less coping.

Life is a long, winding road. It’d be an honor to know your journey and transform the time you have into the adventure you deserve.

"Robert created a safe space and trusting environment where it was okay for me to be vulnerable while parsing out my thoughts and ideas. I appreciated him being an active thought partner that was willing to share his honest insights of me, and that he was not afraid to challenge me to help push my boundaries to encourage growth and thinking outside of the binary."
